It is the most frequently prepared daal in Indian homes though not cooked in the same way everywhere. When garlic turns nice golden add curry leaves and green chili. Add tadka on the boiling dal and turn off the gas.

- Boil moong daal with 1 & 1/2 cups of water with turmeric (1/4 tsp), salt for 10 minutes on a medium-low flame (uncovered). Heat ghee in a pan and add mustard seeds or rai. Allow them to papaya. Now add red chilli powder, turmeric (1/4 tsp), coriander powder, sabzi masala, garam masala, chopped garlic, and green chilli.
- Add chopped garlic and saute it for 2 minutes on low flame until little brown. Now add saute garlic masala in a boiled daal and mix well. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with chapatis or steamed rice.
Add coriander leaves for garnishing and moong dal tadka is already. You can have this as it is as soup. You can serve it with chapatti, naan, fulka. It goes well with plain rice too. Tempering: I have used basic tadka using mustard, cumin, chillies, curry leaves which actually brings the plain moong dal an aromatic flavor.
