  17. Get 1 cinnamon stick
  18. Take 1/4 tsp lemon juice
  19. Get Grind together and make a paste
  20. Get 1 cup corinder leaves
  21. Get 1/3 cup mint leaves
  22. Take 3-4 green chilli
  23. Get 1/3 cup coconut slices
  24. Prepare 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  25. Take 10 cloves garlic
  26. Get 1 tomato
  27. Make ready For marination
  28. Make ready 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  29. Prepare 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  30. Take 1/2 tsp cumin powder
  31. Get 1 tbsp dahi
  32. Make ready 1 tsp lemon juice
  33. Get Little salt
  34. Get 1 tbsp Ginger garlic paste
  35. Make ready 1 tbsp oil

Made in traditional Hyderabadi style, this recipe will become your favorite immediately. For some reason, whenever we decide to eat non-vegetarian food, it's either chicken or mutton that comes to my mind. Biryani isn't really a curry - its a rice dish, a rice dish thats sealed in the pan and then 'baked' on the stove. Theres no 'curry gravy' going on here.

Instructions to make Fish Biryani:
  1. In a plate/bowl put all the ingredients of marination and mix it well now put properly washed pompheret pieces(u can use surmai fish or prawans).keep aside for 10 mins.
  2. Take all the ingredients of masala and and add little water and make paste keep aside.
  3. Heat 1/3 cup of oil in a pan and slightly fry the fish pieces(fry for 2mins only).remove and keep aside.also keep the remaining oil aside we will use this in masala.
  4. Take potato pieces and fry them in oil on low flame untill golden and keep aside.
  5. Now take kadhai and put remaining fish fry oil and add 2 tbsp more oil.then add remaining marination masala and 1/3 cup of fried onion(birista) and mix it after that add grinded paste and saute for 2 to 3 mins.now add chopped tomato and little water and saute for 5 mins.
  6. Now add red chilli powder+salt+coriander powder+cumin powder+garam masala powder+turmeric powder and mix it well saute for 2 mins.now add whisked dahi and mix it well cook for some mins then add 1/3 cup water and fish pieces very carefully place in masala and leave for 1 min (donot stir it).then remove fish very gently and keep aside.
  7. Add fried potato pieces and cook masala untill water dries and masala gets nice and thick.
  8. Now heat water and put bay leaves +cinnamon stick+ elaichi + salt + lemon juice and cook rice on high flame(cook rice 80 %).discard all the remaining water.
  9. Now take dekchi put cooked masala on that sprinkle chopped coriander leaves (1/4 cup) + mint leaves(1/4 cup) + fried onions(1/3 cup).and put all the rice on top of rice put yellow or red food colour mixed with little water and sprinkel little mint and coriander leaves chopped and place fish pieces.
  10. Now keep on dum for 15 to 20 mins on very low flame.
  11. Your fish biryani is ready enjoy with khuchumber or salad or raita.

Best fish for Fish Biryani: Bone-in fish steaks hold up really well in Biryani dishes. I like to use salmon, halibut or king fish steaks. If you do not like bone-in fish, use thick fish fillet of salmon, halibut or king fish.
