- Prepare 2 fish head,cut into pieces (try to use head of 1.5kg katla fish)
- Prepare 2 cups gobindobhog rice
- Get 2 medium size potatoes,cut into cubes
- Get 2 medium size onions,sliced
- Get 1 t tomato,cut into pieces
- Take 1 tsp ginger paste
- Prepare 1/2 tsp garlic paste
- Make ready 1 bay leaf
- Take 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
- Take 2 dry whole red chillies
- Take 5-6 cloves
- Make ready 3-4 green cardamom
- Make ready 1 " cinnamon stick
- Get 1 tsp turmeric powder

- Prepare 2 tsp sugar
- Make ready 2 tbsp or as per taste salt
- Get 1 tsp clarified butter/ ghee
- Make ready 6-7 tbsp mustard oil
- Prepare 1-2 green chillies,splited
- Prepare 4 cups hot water

Steps to make Muri ghonto:
- Clean and wash fish head, marinate with turmeric powder and salt, then keep for 10 minutes, meanwhile wash and drain rice after soaking it for 15 minutes.
- Heat oil in a heavy bottomed deep pan, fry marinated fish head for around 6-7 minutes or till the fish head turns golden brown in colour, remove from oil and keep aside.
- Marinate potatoes with little turmeric powder and salt, then in same oil, fry till light brown, strain from oil and keep aside.
- Now in same oil, add dry red chillies, bay leaf, cumin seeds, cloves, green cardamom, cinnamon, saute for couple of seconds.
- Add sliced onions, fry it for couple of minutes or till onions turn golden brown..
- Add rice, fry till it changes it colour and turns transparent.
- Add ginger and garlic paste, turmeric powder, cumin powder, salt, sugar, tomatoes cook in medium flame for 2-3 minutes.
- Add fried potatoes,stir and mix well.
- Add fried fish head,mix gently.
- Add hot water along with green chillies, cover the pan and cook in high flame for 5 minutes, then simmer for another 10 minutes,.
- Lastly add ghee and switch off the flame after mixing properly.
- Serve hot and enjoy.
