  1. Prepare olive oil
  2. Prepare 1 red onion, chopped and cooked

Carefully roll the mixture into balls, each about the size of a tennis ball. These burgers taste best when made with beef that has a high fat-to-lean ratio. The higher percentage of fat helps keep the burgers moist, and gives them a better flavor. A lot of the fat will render off during cooking, so don't worry.

Steps to make Beef Burgers:
  1. Preheat the oven to 200C
  2. Mix together the onion, beef, egg, breadcrumbs, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt and oregano in a bowl
  3. Separate into 6 even portions and mould into each portion in to a burger
  4. Heat a frying pan on a medium heat and sear the burgers on each side for 2 minutes on each side (this may need to be done in batches)
  5. Then cook the burgers in the oven for 6-8 minutes or until cooked throughout. For the last couple of minutes, add the cheese on top of the burger and let it melt.
  6. Stack the burger. First, the base of the burger bun, then lettuce, the burger/cheese and the burger top.

Leaner cuts of meat are dryer (you want a JUICY burger, people!), and don't have as much flavor. I like to use lean ground beef for burgers but they are dry if cooked well done which is needed for safety. this recipe makes burgers that are juicy and very tasty. I left out the italian seasoning because I didn't want them to taste like meatballs but otherwise followed the recipe. I cooked them in my air fryer and they were perfect. Make them your own with toppings such as cheese slices, sliced beefsteak tomatoes, raw red and white onion (also tasty when grilled), ketchup, mustard, pickles, jalapenos, mayonnaise, and Boston lettuce leaves.
