  7. Make ready 1 1/2 frozen medium bananas (I experimented around w/this- for us, 2 medium was too much, and 1/2 large wasn't enough)
  8. Get 3/4 cup vanilla ice cream or froyo (i.e. 3 scoops)
  9. Prepare Optional (but I used in my recipe in lieu of 3 scoops of the same frozen treat)
  10. Prepare 1/4 cup vanilla froyo (i.e. 1 scoop)
  11. Get 1/4 cup vanilla ice cream (i.e. 1 scoop)
  12. Get 1/4 cup piña colada ice cream
  13. Prepare Optional
  14. Prepare 15 ice cubes (or however many you need to get the consistency you want)
  15. Take Topper (optional)
  16. Make ready 1 whipped cream (we used soy whip - just as tasty!)
  17. Get 1 ground cinnamon (to garnish)
  18. Make ready 1 maraschino cherry

Fill blender halfway with ice cubes. Add rum, coconut cream, coconut milk and pineapple chunks. Serve, garnished with a slice of pineapple and maraschino cherry, if desired. While touring through San Juan with friends, we were walking back from the gorgeous Fortaleza street looking for a great spot to stop for lunch, and stumbled upon a sign for the place the Pina Colada was first made - and decided to duck in to Barrachina for some drinks and mofongo!.

Steps to make Alicea's Piña Colada:
  1. Measure out and dump all ingredients in the blender.
  2. Blend! Since our blender is somewhat older, I added the ice cubes to make it more of a slushy than a smoothie, but the end result is creamy nonetheless!
  3. Top with whipped cream, sprinkled ground cinnamon, and a maraschino cherry. Add a straw and enjoy!
