Cooking thinly sliced, breaded meat in a fry pan is the easy technique used for any authentic, crispy German or Austrian schnitzel recipe. I use bone-in, thinly cut, tenderized pork chops coated in panko bread crumbs, but you can easily substitute tenderized chicken breast instead. L's Easy Schnitzel Mom's recipe which I improved.

- Take 1 kg Chicken Breast
- Make ready 1 Egg
- Take 1 1/2 cup Golden Bread Crumbs
- Make ready 2 1/2 tbsp Dry Oregano
- Get 1 Canola Oil
- Prepare 2 tsp Salt
- Get 1 tbsp Dijon Mustard (regular is also ok)
- Take 1 clove Minced Garlic
One of my favorite foods growing up in Germany was probably Schnitzel with Fries. Super simple recipe for the most amazing vegan schnitzel's. This is a grandma recipe so you know it's going to be good. Make sure to serve with classic German sides like potato salad, sauerkraut and spaetzle.
Steps to make L's Easy Schnitzel:
- Cut the chicken breast into medium size and not so thick pieces.
- In a bowl mix together the egg, garlic, salt and mustard.
- In a jar put the bread crumbs with the oregano. Put the lid on and shake well.
- Put the bread crumbs in a deep plate.
- Take a piece of chicken breast and dip both sides in the egg mix. Do the same in the bread crumbs.
- Do that for all the pieces and place on a clean plate.
- Now in a frying pan, pour enough canola oil to cover the chicken breasts. Warm it up.
- Once the oil is hot put in the chicken breast. Check once the bottom is light brown and turn over. When both sides are done it's ready.

Rachel's secret ingredient really does make a difference - Thank you, Rachel, for sharing your 'secret ingredient'! This is a basic recipe for Wiener Schnitzel but I have never seen it served with ketchup before. I'm not from Germany but in Sweden we always serve them with Caprice and Anschovies file's on top. The only difference - German Schnitzel is made with pork (my preference) instead of veal.
